Best things to Do in Cabo San Lucas

Cabo San Lucas, a resort city on the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula, is known for its beaches, water-based activities, and nightlife. Playa El Médano is Cabo’s main beach, with outdoor restaurants and numerous bars. Past the marina is Land’s End peninsula, site of Playa del Amor (Lover’s Beach) and El Arco, a natural archway in the sea cliffs.

El Arco

A natural archway that has become a picture-perfect symbol of Cabo San Lucas – take a boat tour to see it from the water. The rock formation is beautiful, and you can usually spot sea lions at the base of it. The beaches nearby are called Lovers’ Beach and Divorce Beach: funny names, but the surrounding waters make for excellent snorkeling too.

Whale Shark Snorkeling

Your chance to meet the biggest fish in the world up close in one of the only places in the world where a sighting is nearly 100 percent guaranteed. From September to May Dive Cabo offers whale shark swimming experiences that are out of this world. After two to three hours in the ocean, swimmers get a meal of fish tacos.

Cactus ATV Tours

Head out to see a different side of the Los Cabos region as you head through its desert, mountains, and dunes. If you’re looking for adventure, Cactus ATV (all-terrain vehicle) tours will get you out into some stunning natural scenery.

The Office on The Beach

A toe-in-the-sand restaurant with tables on the beach and fresh Mexican food offerings. This restaurant has been serving delicious Mexican staples since the 1970s before tourism started booming through Los Cabos.

Deep Sea Fishing

Hop on a boat and try catching a marlin or mahi-mahi. Cabo San Lucas is the place to be for deep-sea fishing, and the marina is very active. Head down to the marina and negotiate your charter for the day, or hire one through Seashine Adventures.

La Coyota

A shopping village full of hand-crafted glass, local art, and local finds. For hand-embroidered crafts, Mexican art and beautiful ceramics, visit La Coyota, a multi-room shop that sprawls through a converted hacienda and once belonging to Edith Jiménez, the founder of The Office on The Beach.

Mount Solmar

A gorgeous hike and sunset spot overlooking Los Cabos that takes about 30 minutes to make it to the top. Hike Mount Solmar for priceless views and photos of the Los Cabos area that’ll make your IG followers jealous. The hike is relatively easy but wears tight shoes, as it’s rocky in parts.

Cabo Snorkel & Sea Adventure

Cabo Adventures has a snorkeling tour for $89 per person that will take you to Land’s End and El Arco, Lovers’ Beach and the sea lion colony. The marine life and coastal landscapes here are stunning, and you can’t come to Cabo San Lucas without getting in the water.

Cabo Zipline

Mexico’s longest, fastest, the highest zip line is aptly named the Superman. You’ll have to abseil from sheer rock walls and traverse a bridge to get there before the Superman shoots you along a 4,000-foot line over a Unesco protected biosphere reserve at 60 mph.

The Sand Bar

A bar and grill on Medano Beach that offers massages on its top deck, overlooking the ocean. Escape the crazy spa prices of the resorts and come to The Sand Bar for a relaxing massage.

Cabo Wabo

One of Cabo’s most famous bars opened in 1990 by Sammy Hagar of Van Halen. Cabo Wabo is a Cabo San Lucas staple with live music almost every night.

In Cabo San Lucas—part of Los Cabos, right on the southernmost tip of the Baja California peninsula—the beaches are beautiful, the weather is hot, and spring break draws almost as many partygoers as Cancún. Not here to party? Worry not! There are plenty of other fun things to do in Cabo San Lucas. And, be sure to make the most of the ocean: snorkel with tropical fish, try your hand at deep-sea fishing then eat delicious seafood. Are you ready?

Seven Things to Do in Iceland

Iceland is known for its dramatic landscape with volcanoes, geysers, hot springs, and lava fields. Onerous glaciers are protected in Vatnajökull and Snæfellsjökull national parks. Most of the people live in the capital, Reykjavik, which runs on geothermal power and is home to the National and Saga museums, tracing Iceland’s Viking history.

So, in honor of the Iceland guide we just published today, here are our favorite things to see and do in Iceland that will convince you to book your ticket:

Visit Reykjavík

The capital is awash in thriving cafes, high-energy clubs, friendly public house, and a colored ancient town with rows of wooden houses clustered together. And if you’re a night owl, you’ll be a real fan the party life. Lovely city and never find myself bored here.

Explore the Westfjords

The Westfjords is a large peninsula in northwestern Iceland with tons of mountains and a coastline heavily indented by fjords. It’s one of the rawest parts of Iceland and my favorite region. Some people live here and fewer tour, though Icelanders make their way here on summer vacation. It’s an area of tiny towns, fishing villages, mountains, waterfalls, and lakes just an awesome place to enjoy a lot.

In the summer months, puffins and whales call it their home. In the winter, many of the roads are closed by ice and snow for several months.

Soak in a Relaxing Lagoon

Most people soak in the Blue Lagoon. This large, milky-blue spa fed by mineral-rich heated seawater from the nearby geothermal plant. Though it’s the most expensive one, you cannot deny that Iceland’s most famous geothermal pool is the country’s top tourist attraction. But there are so many other hot pools in the country.

See The Golden Circle

The Golden Circle is the famous tourist route that includes Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir, and Thingvellir National Park. They can make a relaxing day trip from the capital, so people on a short layover always come to this area. You can rapidly drive the whole ring in a day. Along the way, there are a few farms where you can stop and enjoy Icelandic horses.

Watch the Northern Lights

The Northern Lights become more visible here from September to April. These dancing lights are one of the best natural wonders. To witness the aurora borealis in all their kudos in Iceland requires patience, luck, and darkness. This is the best place to see the lights, especially during times of “low” activity. If the views are extreme, you can sometimes see them in Rekjyavik.

Visit Jökulsárlón

This amazing place is situated in the southeast of Iceland, the ice floe is only a couple of decades old and now one of the most famous destination in the area country. Icebergs float in the pool all year. I enjoy just sitting and listening to the ice blocks crash into each other on their way out to sea. You can also go for a boat journey around the lagoon.

Do a Glacial Trek

During the winter months, the glaciers get a bit sturdier, and groups of tourists led across them. There is no more flexible way to observe the glaciers than to walk on them, releasing your inner Arctic explorer. Vatnajökull is one of the most accessible glaciers to hike, though there are others around the country, as well. Some travel companies that offer polar expeditions are Extreme Iceland, Icelandic Mountain Guides, Trek Iceland.

Wherever you stop in Iceland, pure charms and fabulous nature are your constant companions. It is not surprising that this amazing country has so much to offer – not only a feast for your eyes but also a banquet for your taste buds.

We recommend you take your best friends to this one. It is awesome!

Here are the top 7 local Icelandic foods that should try:

  • Skyr
  • Roasted Lamb
  • Hákarl
  • Kjötsúpa
  • Fish
  • Rúgbrauð
  • Harðfiskur
